LONG NEGOTIATIONS.
COTTON STRIKE AVOIDED. LONDON, October 23. A threatened stoppage of work in tlie spinning section of the Lancashire cotton industry to-morrow has been averted after 81J hours' negotiation. The agreement reached provides for a reduction in wages of 1/GJ in the pound. It will operate on October 31. The employers made, a 1/8J reduction the basis of a settlement of the recent dispute in the weaving section.
