H.M.S. DIOMEDE CLUB.
The first annual dinner and smoke concert of H.M.s. Diomcde Rugby Club was held on Saturday evening, there being an attendance of well- over 100. Commodore F. Burges Watson. D.5.0.. was in the chair and other guests included :—Captain M. J. C. de Meric, M.V.0., H.M.s. Dunedin : Commander V. A. C. Crutchley, V.C., D.S.C., H.M:s. Diomcde, and representatives of the D.S.C., H.M.s. Philomel; Commander P. B. R. W. William Powlett, H.M.s. Dunedin; Lieutenants C. W. Jones and C. T. Collett, H.M.s. Dunedin, and representatives of the Auckland Rugby Union, Auckland Rugby Referees' Association, tlie Poneke Club (Wellington) and of all the senior clubs in Auckland. After the toast of "The King" had been honoured, at the request of the chairman, all present stood in silence for a few seconds In memory of "tlie late sportsman," B. P. Palmer.
