'QUAKE AT WELLINGTON.

EARLY MORNING SHOCK.

BLENHEIM SHAKEN SEVERELY

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A sharp earthquake occurred at 1.17 this morning.

Records at tie Dominion Observatory indicate that the origin was between 80 and 90 miles distant from Wellington in a south-westerly direction. This would account for the fact that Blenheim felt the shake fairly severely. The ground during the 'quake was tilted to the south.
