NEW ROMANCE OF THE JUNGLES.
"Tarzan the Ape-Man," directed by W. S. van Dvke, who made "Trader Horn," opens a season at the Majestic to-morrow. It stars Johnny Weissmuller, world's champion swimmer, who was chosen for the title role because ofi his tremendous, physical build. His terrific muscular drive, developed by years of swimming, was a great aid to him in swinging through jungle trees at dazzy heights.
Most African adventure pictures succeed only in IK-iiig fantastic, but the precedent of "Trader Horn" has been followed in transferring to the screen the breath-taking thrills of Edgar Rice Burroughs' story, "Tarzan of the Apes. An Englishman, raised by the apes as one of their own, kidnaps an English girl, a member of an ivory-hunting safari. A thrilling climax is reached when Tarzan rescues the safari from a horrible death in a man-eating gorilla Pl ln the role of a young adventurer who accompanies the safari, Neil Hamilton "■ives a tine pcrilorinance. Maureen O'Sullivan scores as the heroine, who lives like Eve with her Adam.
