PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.
The Papakura Town Board met last night. Bus Application.—The Auckland and Provincial Motor Bus Co. was granted permission to operate a bus that is G9Glb overweight, when fully loaded with 40 passengers, on the Papakura section of the Great South Road, the road classification of the Great South Road having been reduced to second. Workless Boys.—The Farm and CityCareers Bureau is endeavouring to obtain a complete register of all boys seeking employment in Auckland City and suburbs. It asked the board to allow registration to take place at its office. The board members were of opinion that the Government was shirking its responsibility. " The aspect of youths now reaching the time to embark on their careers finding themselves up against a stonewall is pitiful," said Mr. McEntee, " and we must do anything we can." The request was granted. Tender.—The tender of Mr. A. Walker was .accepted for the board's cartage for the year. Relief Work.—The men employed under No. 5 scheme have been, engaged draining and repairing Dominion Road North, in the cemetery, in the scenic reserve, and channelling and skirting roads in the town, and forming footpaths through the railway reserve. Rates.—The rates for the year were left the same as the previous ypnr.
