ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The Onehunga Borough Council met last night, Mr. E. Morton, the Mayor, presiding. Drainage Loan.—An Order-in-Council has sanctioned the raising of a drainage loan for Onelninga of £4850, and a relict' of unemployment loan of £4500, at a rate of interest not exceeding OV2 per cent, instead of 5'A, as previously decreed by the Government. Borough Assessor.—Mr. H. Campling "was appointed assessor for Onehunga during the illness of Mr. J. Carlton, the present holder of the office. Chimney Fire.—The borough inspector reported that the chimney tire complained of_ by the superintendent of the lire brigade was not a serious matter, and the alarm had been given by a small boy quite unnecessarily. Waikaraka Cemetery .-.-Owing to complaints received it was resolved to discontinue blasting operations. Unemployed Boys.—The council agreed to the request of the Farm and Citv Careers Bureau, Ltd., to allow the registration of unemployed boys in Onehunga to be made at the Borough Council office. Refund of Loan.—The Power Board asked for an immediate refund of the £4000 held by the council at call, owing to the compulsory reduction in interest recently entailed by legislation. The monov will be repaid.
