ST. JOHN AMBULANCE.

AUCKLAND CENTRE'S MEETING. PRESENTATION OF AWARDS. Certificates and awards won by members of the Auckland Centre of the St. John Ambulance Association were presented by the Governor-General. Lord Bledisloe, at the 40th annual meeting of the centre last evening. The meeting in the assembly hall at the barracks in Rutland Street was i packed to the doors, and the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, presided. Members of the corps were in uniform and a guard of honour was formed for his Excellency, who was accompanied by the Lady Bledisloe. The adoption of the report and balancesheet was moved by the Mayor. Mr. Hutchison said the figures shown as losses in the transport and nursing accounts could not be considered as losses when it was remembered that the association's ambulances had conveyed 2627 patients, and the nurses had made 7907 visits during the past year. In congratulating the association 011 its success, the Mayor said that it was steadily growing in usefulness. He paid a tribute to the work of the hon. secretary, Mr. W. Rattray. "His record is something to be proud of," said Mr. Hutchison. High appreciation of the work of thcambulance was expressed by Lord Bledisloe before presenting the awards. Among the prominent awards were:—Warrant, Divi-sional-Surgeon J. Roberton, Epsom Nursing Division; letter of appointment on probation, Acting-Divisional-Superinten-dent E. C. Marks, Epsom Ambulance Division; letter of appointment, Lady Cadet Superintendent M. Collins, Oneliunga Cadet Nursing Division. The election of officers resulted:—President, the Mayor, Mr. G. W.
