MOTOR CYCLE NOTES.

I , THE AUCKLAND CLUB. SUCCESSFUL YEAR ENDS. GRAND RALLY ARRANGED. At the annual general meeting of the Auckland Sports Motor Cycle Club last week the retiring president, Mr. W. Wadham, paid a warm tribute to the work of the secretary, Mr. H. Fletcher, who had organised most of the events held by the club during the past year. The club had derived little profit from its activities, stated the president, but had endeavoured to cater for all makes of machines, in all classes of the sport. Many new and improved motors had appeared during the year, and their owners had been keen to try them out in sporting contests. The Tourist Trophy races on Waiheke had been well attended and had produced some excellent exhibitions of riding. These races had also been of great assistance to the A.C.U. in selecting the Dominion's representatives in the international T.T. in the Isle of Man. Riders who competed in the AucklandNew Plymouth reliability trial spoke gratefully of the hospitality extended to them by the New Plymouth club, and it was decided to send an invitation to the southern club to organise a run to Auckland, where their kindness could be returned. When the question of applying for a New Zealand grass track championship was raised, Mr. J. Kay, A.C.U. representative, explained that the union had decided to allocate the championship to each centre in turn so that in due course it will be held again in Auckland. During the evening the cups and prizes won in the recent 125-mile race at Mangere, and in the Auckland-New Plymouth reliability trial were presented. The following officers were elected: — Patron, Mr. R. E. Champtaloup; president, Mr. W. White; vice-presidents, Mr. W. Wadham and Mr. H. S. White; committee, Messrs. B. Bray, J. C. Kay, J. White, C. Goodwin and G. Howlett; club captain, Mr. P. Fletcher; general secretary, Mr. E. T. White; sports secretary, Mr. H. Fletcher. Mr. W. Marret was appointed auditor.

North Shore Club. The North Shore Motor Cycle Club seems to have been distinctly barren of ideas lately, but the committee is meeting to-morrow night to arrange a schedule ,of events for the next few months, to keep members out of mischief. Rally Announced. The grand motor cycle rally arranged by the Auckland Sports Motor Cycle Club is to be held on June 26. All motor cycle enthusiasts are invited to join in the rally, which is to leave from the railway station at 10 a.m. A second division for late Sabbath risers is to leave from the same place at 2 p.m., all meeting at Sliarpe s Bush. A sports programme has been arranged to fill in the afternoon at Sliarp'e's Bush, with contests afoot as well as motor cycle races and hill-climb-ing events. P. Fletcher in Hospital. As a result of injuries sustained when he crashed in the last Dominion Tourist Trophy race on Waibeke, Mr. Percy Fletcher, captain of the Auckland Sports Motor Cycle Club, is now in hospital. Since his crash, which was caused by someone who let down hie back tyre just before the race started, Fletcher has been unable to ride. He has now undergone an operation to his head, but, although he is reported to be progressing satisfactorily, he will not b® out of hospital for some time.
