TAKAPUNA BY-ELECTION
VOTING TO-MORROW,
FOUR CANDIDATES IN FIELD
A by-election will be held in the "borough of Takapuna to-morrow to fill a vacancy on the council caused by the. retirement of Mr. C. M. Dowd. There are four nominations for the vacant seat, the candidates being Mrs. A. Blonifield, Messrs. C. M. Dowd and T. S. Hiekey and the Rev. H. L. Richards. The' vacancy was created when it was held that Mr! Dowd was not eligible to hold his seat after having worked as a relief worker for the council. Mr. Dowd has since announced Jhat he will not accept further relief work, and is offering himself for re-election. The polling hours will be from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., at the following booths: — Takapuna Council Chambers; Chamber of Commerce, Swanson Street; Bayswater Post Oflicc; Presbyterian Hall, at Belmont; Picturodrome Theatre, Milford, and a vacant shop near Hauraki Road.
