STRONG HAND.
GERMAN CHANCELLOR Suggestion of Dictator Alarms States. ORDER' TO PRUSSIAN DIET. (United P.A.—Electric Telcgrapji-Copyright) BERLIN, June 8. The Chancellor, Herr von Papen, in a determined attempt to break the Prussian deadlock, informed the Nazi president of the Diet that a new Premier must quickly be elected. If a majority cannot be obtained for any candidate, it is cxpectcd that Herr von Papen will disregard the constitution and appoint a Rcicli Commissioner to administer Prussia. The suggestion of a dictatorship for Prussia has alarmed the south German States, Bavaria, especially, fears encroachment by the Reich. The leader of the Bavarian Peasants' party, Dr. Heim, in an address to the peasants' congress,' declared that the States must defend their rights. He added amid applause that he was convinced the monarchy would soon be restored. Socialists, at meetings in Berlin and other cities, are angrily attacking the "Government of Barons," particularly for its industrial conscription proposals, under which unemployed will be obliged to work for pocket money.
