The Ponsonby Club gave notice of protest against a. decision o£ the referee, Mr. F Thompson, in the match with Marists last week. The club, in stating that the official referred to was held in high esteem, submitted that the oversight in connection with the incident, in which it was claimed as a misjudgment when Delgrosso was considered to have touched the ball in flight and Clarke scored lor Marists, that a replay was warranted. The club contended that this incident and decision changed the tenor of the giune against Ponsonby, winch' was, at the time, in a winning position. The club was agreeable to the same referee having charge if a replay was granted. Mr. Stallworthy said that if the protest was not on a point of law it could not be dealt with by the management, according to the rules. The chairman, Mr. George Rhodes, said the letter was based on fact. The League could not presume against a man being Mr W. Mincham said the referee still held that his decision was correct. Mr J Itukutai said that did not matter. As the club had not raised objection earlier, the protest seemed to be belated Mr Rhodes said he did not think the League could do anything, as the referee s decision could not be overruled. After further discussion it was decided (o get a ruling from the council as to the power of the League to net in a case where a referee made what might be considered a mistake. It was stated that only two replays previously had been granted here —one for short time played and another for over time played. , , Mr. Mincham finally expressed the opinion that this was a chance for Marists to show its sportsmanship. He thought it was a matter between the clubs. It was decided to submit to the club delegates at next meeting the question ot the desirability of reverting to the system of reserve seniors always appearing In fixtures before the top teams, 'llie weight of opinion was against change, owing to the need for conserving finances, Mr. Rhodes stati"g that he held out little hope of present arrangements being altered. In reply to a complaint about pilfering of players'' belongings at public grounds, the town 'clerk advised that the superintendent of parks considered that this was a matter of control by officials of different codes, as, owing to the number of players in dressing sheds, it was difficult to detect thieving. The transfer of Douglas V. Syme from Richmond to Ponsonby and the regrading of F. Farrell from Otahuhu senior B to I'second grade were granted. The application of R.
