ENEMY OF BRITAIN.
Reputed Slayer of Kitchener Arrested. IN CUSTODY IN NEW YORK. (Received 10 a.m.) NEW YORK, May 24. The police criminal alien squad arrested a man described as Frederick Joubert Duquesne, 0 aged 52, widely known as an anti-British adventurer. He is charged with being a fugitive from justice in 1918, while awaiting extradition to England on a charge of bombing the Lamport and Holt liner Tennyson in Brazilian waters in 191G, thereby killing three British seamen. Duquesne came to New York in 1917, impersonating an officer of the Australian Light Horse. A strange feature coinciding with his arrest is the publication of a book in New York entitled, "The Man Who Killed Kitchener." The author of the book purports to show that Duquesne was responsible for the sinking of the Hampshire. The British Consulate has communicatcd with officials in London regarding the action to be taken, if any.
