EIGHT LIVES LOST.
Rescuers' Sacrifice in English Mine Disaster. HEROISM UNDERGROUND. LONDON, May 24. Five coalminers were killed at the Shining Gutter mine near Bakcwell, Derbyshire. Three members of the rescue party, including the mine manager, also lost their lives in heroic efforts to succour their comrades.
