FARM DEVELOPMENT.
SCHEME 4A REINSTATED.
ME2v READY TO START WORE. Unemployment Scheme 4a. which applies to farms, has been in abeyance for a month, but is to be resumed on October 1. Its main purpose is to | facilitate land development, and the | original conditions governing it are to |be strictly adhered to. Labour engaged must be additional ■to that ordinariiv j required, and must not be used for milking or other seasonal tasks. Periods of engagement are to range from four to 26 weeks, the wages agreed upon between ! employer and employee to be subsidised i at a rate of 10/ a week for single men and 20/ a week for married men. In the Auckland labour district 52 | men are still carrying on contracts made under the scheme before it was suspended. The bureau has 33 applications for men,. and 14 have been approved. The men are ready to start work.
