PROPOSED LIFTING OP BMt OPPOSITION IX CANTERBURY (By Telegraph.—Press CHRIST CHURCH, Wednesday. The North Canterbury executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union decided to-day to protest strongly to the Prime Minister against any relaxation of the embargo on the importation of livestock from England, declaring that risk of infection of foot and mouth disease was far greater than any likely benefits in the matter of breeding. The members expressed the opinion that New Zealand stock is not greatly in need of fresh blood, and that a serious outbreak of disease would mean ruin to the meat industry in the Dominion. t PROTEST. DAIRY FARMERS OPPOSED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.} PALMERSTOX N., Wednesday. The Dairy Farmers' Union has decided to join in the protests against the lifting of the embargo on the importation of livestock from England.
