NEW LYNN GREEN. - r " f VISIT OF CENTRE TEAMS. A very enjoyable afternoon was spent on the above green on Tuesday, when the members of the Associated Western Clubs, comprising New Lynn, Henderson, Avondale, Glen Eden, and Hallyburton Johnstone, and a team from Grey Lynn, entertained the members of the Auckalnd Bowling Centre. On behalf of the joint clubs, the president, Rev. W. P. Rankin, welcomed the visitors. Mr. H. J. Cutler, vice-president of the New Lynn Club, expressed appreciation of the fact that the function was held on this green, and hoped that it would become an annual event, and Mr. Geo. Lawson, Deputy-Mayor, tendered a civic reception to all visitors. Thei president of the Auckland Centre, Mr. J. M. Thompson, expressed thanks for the welcome, and Mr. James Pascoe, president of the New Zealand Bowling Association, added to same, and mentioned the fact that he had his secretary, Mr. Geo. Gladding, and treasurer, Mr. A. H. Yeoman, with him. At the conclusion of the games, Mr. A. E. Whitten thanked the members of the New Lynn Croquet Club for an excellent afternoon tea. Lawson, Taylor, Laurie, Hollows 20; Kent, Waldron, Cutler, Routley 17, v. Copland, Gill, Newell, Hosking 16. MOUNT EDEN CLUB. ■ i A game for the Nicholson Feathers took place on Wednesday afternoon. The following was the result: —Cave, Fogerty, H. Cordes, J. H. Baker (holders) 20, v. Taylor, Spence, W. Reid, J. Smith (challengers) 14. MANURE WA CLUB. The Manurewa Bowling Club held a very successful full rink tournament on Wednesday afternoon, beautiful weather conditions prevailing. The good entry of eleven teams, competed, many surrounding and city clubs being represented. A welcome was extended to the visitors by the president, Mr. .T. Murray. The games were keenly contested throughout the day, a local combination, Messrs. Ecclesfield, P. Nield, E. S. Pegler and R. Forbes securing the honours with five wins and no losses. The winners were congratulated by the president when receiving the silver cups attached to their success. The greens were in good order for play, and the grounds generally were favourably commented on. Details of the play are as follow :—■ First Round. —Hewitt (Buckfand) 12, v. ,T. WAIHI CLUB'S RECORD. WAIHI, Wednesday. The Waihi Bowling Club has put up a unique record in defeating Hikutaia by 120 to 102 points, thus winning all eight matches played throughout the season. The wins were against Thames (2), Paeroa (2), Te Aroha (2), Tauranga South and Hikutaia (one each). This is claimed to be a Goldfields record.
