LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
MANAGEMENT MEETING.
DRAW FOR FIRST DAY.
The newly-constituted Auckland Rugby League met last evening, with a full attendance of members, as follows: Mr. George Rhodes (chairman) and Messrs. W. Mincham (Referees' Association), C. Adamson (Junior Management Committee), Binns and Doble (New Zealand Council), J. W. Probert and J. Rukutai (elected by the clubs), Ivan Culpan (secretary), and F. Ellis (treasurer). The Town Clerk advised the allocations of the various city grounds for winter sports. The secretary of' the Welfare Committee of the "Military Annexe at the Public Hospital wrote thanking the league for giving facilities to patients to view matches. The letter was received, and it was decided to renew the privilege. -■ The New Zealand Council reported the English Rugby League had advised that amendment had been made to the rule dealing with the "loose head" in scrums, which had the effect of transferring the possession of the loose head from the defending to the attacking side. Applications for reinstatement were made by J. Davis and C. M. Fleming on behalf of the Ponsonby Club, and these were granted. J. O'Brien (Marist Old Boys) was severely cautioned for questioning the referee's decision in a late match last season. Goo,dwin, the Ponsonby player who was suspended Jor pushing a referee, made personal application for reconsideration of the disqualification to enable him to commence playing in the new competition. Decision was reserved. The chairman made a statement that it was the desire of the league to put superior football before the public in the coming months, and it desired and demanded the hearty co-operation of all players. Misconduct would be severely dealt with. The regrading of the Mount Albert senior B team to first junior grade was granted, subject to the application being in order. The draw for the opening of the season on May 2 resulted: Devonport v. City, Carlaw Park, No. 1 ground, 3 p.m.; Marists v. Richmond, No. 2 ground, 3 p.m.; Ellerslie v. Newton, Ellerslie, 3 p.m.; Ponsonby, the bye. The reserve senior teams will play the early match according to the above draw.
