MR. GUY MENZIES ACCLAIMED

The airman Mr. Guy Menzice, who is piloting a Canterbury Aero Club machine, and who was accompanied by Mr. Albert James, hie co-partner in the Southern Cross Junior, spent two hours at Timaru en route to Dunedin to-day. Two other of the club'e aeroplanes made the trip to Timaru, but only one proceeded to Dunedin.

The machines were met some distance north of the town by Mr. Oscar Garden, who flew from England to Australia. The South Canterbury branch of the Canterbruy Aero Club gave a dinner, at which the airmen were accorded a welcome by the Mayor, Mr. W. Angland. The visitors, who were given a fine reception in the town, were also bidden farewell by a large crowd.

Mr. Menzies arrived at the North Taieri aerodrome at 3.48 p.m., and was accorded a civic reception bv the Mayor of Dunedin, Mr. R. E. Black, in the presence of a large and enthusiastic crowd. He will leave on Monday for Christchurch, and will fly to Blenheim on Wednesday in the Southern Cross Junior, and thence to Wellington.

A flight to Auckland will be made on Thursday, and Mr. Menzice will leave Auckland in time to be in Sydney by February 10.

FIRST VISIT TO AUCKAND,

Aucklandcrs will have their first opportunity of seeing the flyer of the Tasman, Mr. Guy Menzies, and his 'plane, the Southern Cross Junior, at the end of this week. Mr. Menzies will fly his 'plane up from Christchurch, accompanied by two machines of the Canterbury Aero Club, and will appear at the Auckland Aero Club's pageant at Mangere next Satur-j day. He is a capable stunt flyer, and will probably be seen doing flips and loops and spirals at the pageant. The Mayor, Mr, George Baildon, will be present at the aerodrome to welcome Mr. Menzies.
