REDUCTION IN WAGES.
ANNUAL SAVING OF €2300
TO HAWKE'S BAY COUNTY
(By Telegraph..—Press Association.), NAPIER, this day. A special meeting of the Hawkc's .Bay County Council resolved that a reduction of 10 per cent be made to all wsiges and salaries payable to employees as from February. The public purse will' thus bo saved about £2300 annually.

TAUMARUXUI PROPOSAL.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TAUMARUXUI, this day. The unemployed position locally is serious at the present time. Forty-seven married men and 103 single men are seeking work. A public meeting decided to urge the Government to take steps to employ men on the construction of tho road from Tauinaruiiui to Tokaanu, through the Tongariro timber block. Representations Have beon made to this effect to the Minister of Public Works, tho Hon. W. B. Taverncr, and he has replied that he is looking into the matter.
