DROWNING AVERTED.

PLUCKY GISBORNE GIRLS. YOUNG WOMAN IN DIFFICULTIES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, this day. The courageous action of two girls averted a drowning fatality on the Wainui Beach. A young lady got into difficulties and was being carried rapidly out to sea, when Misses Jean and Josephine Warren swam, to the rescue. After a strenuous struggle they brought the lady ashore in an exhausted condition. Miss Josephine Warren had recently risen from a sick bed.
