MEN'S COURAGEOUS ACTION. FIRE AT SPRING-VALE. (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) WANGANtJI, Monday. Fire to-night completely gutted a five-roomed house, the property of Constable A. Nairn, at Sprmgvale. On the discovery of the outbreak Mrs. Nairn ran outside and collapsed. One of her three children rushed to Mr. Hammond, a neighbour, saying that she wanted some water as her mother had fanited. Mr. Hammond misinterpreted the message and thought that Mrs. Naiin was still in the blazing house. He and another man, Mr. Thompson, burst in the front door of the dwelling and made a search, which was a courageous action in the circumstances, as the house was then a furnace. Mr. Nairn was away on duty when the lire occurred.
