WAIROA ROAD ACCIDENT .• . :i - v
VICTIMS -IDENTIFIED,

NAPIER, this day. : The • "two''brothers who were'killed last' evening ' when' their car plunged 250 ft' over' a" cliff'on; the'Napier-Wairoa Road (as described on page 10) have beeli' 'identified. They were:— Wilfred Selwyn Osborne, aged 33, and Bernard Augustus Osborne, aged 43. Both men were of Palmernton North. Later details of the accident indicate that owing to the dangerous nature of the. road, the brothers were hugging, the bank, and weie consequently travelling on the wrong side of the road as a service ,car came round, a bend. They pulled to the left, the swerve taking them to the' brink of a terrific drop. The driver was unable "to straighten up again before the outside wheels of the car were over the edge of the bank. Carried by its own weight, the vehicle slid slowly over, hurtling to the bottom of the gorge. Both men died from terrible injuries. An inquest was opened at Napier this morning, and was adjourned after evidence of identification had 'been given by a cousin of the Osborne famjly, named Honore.
