CHRISTMAS TOURNEY.

, INTER-SECTION PI/AY

FOURTH ROUND RESULTS.

The fourth round of post-section play in the Auckland Bowling Centre's; Christmas tourney took place on the Auckland green this morning. T.ie weather was again glorious.

Ten teams competed, the bye going to the Grey Lynn rink (Baildon, Mineham, Liversidge and Whittle). Results :— Bates, Bird, Kilgour, Clarke, (Carlton) 23, v. Koulstou, Bish, Keith, Armstrong (Pukekohe) 12. Clarke led all the way and established a commanding lead by getting five on the 15th head. Armstrong was not very successful with his drives this morning, and with his very last bowl he picked up the jack and took it to an opposing wood. So the last head was not played. Clarkson, Coutts, Truscott, Ball (Carlton) 2G, v. McMaster, Gatland, Kerr, Livingstone (Onehunga) 17. Carlton were always ahead, after leading at 11 to 1 at the fifth head. But what settled the match was securing six points on the 17th head, when Livingstone was just too short, to save. Onehunga Avon the remaining heads, Livingstone claiming the jack for two with his last bowl, but it was impossible to wipe out the deficit.

Miller, Turner, Baker, Findlay (Mount Eden) 10, v. Farley, Roylance, Wakerley, Keatley (Rocky Nook) 15. This was easily the closest game of the day, only a point or two separating the rinks all the way. After a tie on the 20th head Findlay trailed the jack for the winning shot, and although Keatley turned over the bowl that he wanted he did not roll far enough to save.

Robertson, Johnston, McXab, Turner (Carlton) 22, v. Grocott, Campbell, Keys, Parker (Auckland) 19. The Auckland team led off with brilliant play and were soon 10 points ahead at 13 to 3. The unlucky' number was their undoing, and Carlton gradually picked up, leaving Parker four short on the last head. He and Keys both tried for a trail, but it did not come off, and they had to be content with Grocott's shot bowl. ...

Gladding, Jonkin, Carter, Higgott (Carlton) 21, v. Howe, Higginbotham, Murray, Parsons (Ponsonby) 12. Carlton had no difßculty in establishing a lead of 11 to 1 and never looked back, although Parsons played several beautiful saving shots. He put his last ball right on the jack, but he had no position, and the deficit of nine made it-unnecessary to play the last head. The following is the draw for the fifth round:—Clarke a bye, Whittle v. Ball, Findlay v. Turner, Higgott v. Armstrong.
