HARBOUR FERRY SERVICES.

As a regular patron of the harbour ferry system, may I express my dis- . satisfaction with the time-table for the Northcote and BirkenheaS. sendees. These services have been so chopped about to suit Tom, Dick and Harry that we now cannot hope to connect with any boat without carrying a time-table and consulting' it. We have some boats leaving at five minutes to some hour, several minutes after another hour, halfpast another, twenty minutes to another, and so on. As it is hopeless to please all people, set out to please the most, and may I suggest to the Ferry Company that they set a schedule of boatst leaving every fifteen minutes past and every 45 minutes past, all day and any day. The people will catch those boats just the same, and many will avoid the annoyance of going for a boat, say,on a Saturday, to find it runs only on weekdays, or on a week-day, and find it runs only on Saturday. The Birkenhead people have a speedier service, but at the expense of Northcote, and many-hun-dreds of people have been . seriously inconvenienced by boats from Birkenhead omitting the call at Xortbcote on the way back to town. I maitain, a half-hourly service is quite sufficient, but if an additional trip could be worked by another boat at 5 p.m. daily, and 12.30 on Saturday, so much the better,, but this uncertainty of times of departure should be rectified and made simple enough to remember without the necessity of having to carry a time-table. EFFICIENCY. .
