SUNDAY NIGHT PICTURES.

It is wonderful how the City Council can decide that Sunday night talßes constitute a violation of the Sabbath and, acting as the spiritual guides of the masses, eay they must close down. Their argument that five and a half days constitute a working week is amusing when we remember that the Zoo is open for the full, seven days. Of course the council will not take advantage of itsposition and keep open the Town Hall on Sunday nights; it coiildn't very well Certainly the Town Hall concerts are elevating and educative, whilst talkies are, shall we say, common, low, and,ior some inexplicable reason, extremely popular. Personally Ido not believe in any human being being compelled to work for anybody's pleasure on Sundays, but a large number do not mind, because the extra money they receive is' needed and Sunday pay is double pay. Ask the men on the trams. J.V;C.
