THE TROTTING TRACK.

WORK AT EPSOM. NO TAST TIMES RECORDED. AN UNINTERESTING MORNING. Track conditions were excellent at Epsom this morning, but though it -was expected that trainers would be sending their horses along fast in view of the Waikato meeting at the end of the week, the work done was as monotonous as ever. Stoney (Shaw) and Belle Axworthy (Julian) went two mires. Stoney had a start of about 30yds from his companion. Warplane went with them for a mile and a half, when he was eased up. Eolfc Audubon joined in over the last mile. At the finish Belle Axworthy just beat Stoney. It was a useful piece of work. Stoney took 4.38, but Belle Axworthy would have been a couple of seconds faster. Whakahihi (O'Kanc) was strapped up and sent a mile. The ,big pacer took 2.2G to cover the journey without being driven out. Prince Eta wall (Shepherd), after being given a lot of steady pacing, sprinted a half and showed considerable improvement in pace. Nella Dillon (Julian) paced a mile. She is not a good track worker and the trip occupied 2.21, which is seconds slower than she will go in a race. Hohoro (O'Kane) was sent a mile and a half. He ran the first mile in 2.2G 3-5, mile and a quarter in 3.0 2-5, and the full distance in 3.32 3-5. He was inclined to bobble a bit at the turns, but otherwise paced in good style. He looks very well. . Golden Iluia (Lee) trotted over several circuits without mistake. The chestnut is on the improve. Explosion and The Abbey were given useful work separately. Explosion early broke p, but afterwards he settled down to trot and made no mistakes. Bloss Audubon, who has been placed in training again, was pottering about free-legged. Mountain Dell, unhoppled, was allowed to canter along for a round or so and go at her own pace. Nelson Tasker (Brain) worked out two miles, doing the trip in 4.47 3-5 and being under a good pull all the way. Kewpic's Triumph (Gee) paced nicely over a couple of circuits without being after time. Great Vanity (Webb) worked without the straps. The trotter Anseline and Maid of the Mountains were companions over two miles. Anseline held a slight advantage till two furlongs from the finish, when she left her feet, and Maid of the Mountains headed her. However, Anseline settled down again and beat her stable companion home by a length. The two miles took 4.54 1-5. Glandore paced two miles in 4.39 4-5— t the first half in 1.13, mile in 2.24, and mile and a half in 3.30 4-5.
