SWIMMING.
CHAMPIONSHIP IN EGYPT. TWO NEW ZEALANDERS PROMINENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. At the Egyptian swimming championships, held at Heliopolis on August 9 and 10, two former Wellington men, who now are stationed at No. 4 flying training school of the Royal Air Force at Abu Sueir, were prominent. Squadron-Leader Carr, a Wellington College old boy, was second in the 100 metres race and third in the 440 yards, and Flying-Officer Ulic Shannon was second in the 440 yards after a great race with Flying-Officer King, a former English Service champion. The inter-unit aggregate cup, one of the most sought-after trophies in Egypt, was won by the Abu Sueir team, which included Messrs. Shannon and Carr.
