As the official car approached Hamilton it was found that the 12-minute nven had caught Lewis, off 16m, at 12.40. Later the official party came up with Rac near Nganiawaliia, out of the ia.ee with a broken chain, while a little further on Aberhart was riding slowly and looking tired. . At one o'clock entering Isgaruawahia the car came on the 30m men, who were up with the 37m bunch, while the 28m men were losing ground. Tlio first two men to pa6s through there were Hills and Archer, riding very strongly. At 1.14, nine minutes later, Clay °and Johns checked in. The limit men gained four minutes. Peterson, Rose, Pratney and Minns passed through at 1.30, and Litchfield, Dowman, Willcox, and E. Clarke at 1.32, while a minute later Pinfold, Maku, Moore, and Harris arrived. . At 1.34 Gyde checked in, riding alone in good styie. N. Clarke clocked in at 1 3if. The limit man Reid, who had been passed by 19 men, came in two minutes later. Eleven minutes later came Hall and Taylor, followed closely by DragoVl Haycs, off scratch, had caught Philps, off 12m,, and came through with him at 1.50 p.m., 34 minutes behind the leaders.
