LAST IN TE PUKE. FORTY MEN OUT OF WORK. PRICE OF PRODUCT TOO LOW. (From Our Own Corraspondont.) TE PUKE, Friday. Definite advice has been received from the directors that tile Te Puke Flaxmilling Company will close its mill this week. Notice has been given to the employees to-day, and more than forty men will be out of"employment. Te Puke's mill, it is reported, has been the last llaxmill in the Dominion to continue operations. During the last month two other mills in this district have been closed. The closing of the mills is due to the low prices cf fibre. It is estimated that the cost of manufacture far exceeds the market value. The company is advised that it is impossible to produce phormium te'.ia.v at £20 per ton, which is in excess of the present ruling market price.
