CREW OF TAHITI.
QUESTION IN PARLIAMENT. / (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Apparently there is no occasion for the Government to recompense members of the crew of the steamer Tahiti who lost their kits in helping to salvage New Zealand mails. Replying to a question by Mr. J. McCombs (Labour, Lyttelton) to-day, the Hon. J. B. Donald (Minister of Mariue) said that approximately ten members of the crew were engaged with -the mail agent in transferring the mails. It was not-apparent that tin: ri.-k taken by them waa in any way different fruin that taken by others, nor that there were imposed any restrictions which did not apply to every other member of the ship's complement. The Minister added that he understood the Union Steamship Company, had suitably recompensed the crew and that the Shipwreck Relief Society had proTided clothing for every man concerned.-
