There is no necessity to show Daniel South the way from the prisoners 3 room to the dock at the Police Court this morning. He knows the walk quite well. South, aged 50, denied that he was an idle and disorderly person, with insufficient means of support. Constable Christiansen said accused had been hanging about the street for months. "He does no work, and is becoming a nuisance,, for he cadges money from passers-by," added the constable. "Women are frightened to pass him." "Becoming a nuisance I'"' said Mr. F. K. Hunt. "He's been a nuisance here for ten yeara or more. He: has a list of 163 previous convictions." Tie magistrate sent Soutn to Mount Eden pdaon for, three months.
