AKARANA YACHT CLUB. THIRTY-SIXTH AXNUAE MEETING. The thirty-sixth annual meeting of the Akarana Yacht Club'was held .last evening in the clubhouse, Mechanics' Bay, Commodore T. McKay presiding .over -a good attendance. ■ '•'/'•■ ■'• The report stated that- the past season had been the most successful in the history of the club. The clubhouse had been maintained in excellent order, and ■ several improvements effected. ' A skidway from Mechanics' Bay was recently completed, which should be or great benefit to owners of boats moored there. Membership stood • at 414. Five days' racing was carried out, entries showing an increase over' the previous year's total.- The nnnual cruising race to Awaroa Bay was well patronised, and the racing was", followed by a dance in Gordon's Hall. A social was tendered to the ladies' committee,in recognition of the good work accomplished <at the weekly dances, resulting in a substantial addition , to the clubhouse funds. The Davis Cup, won outright by Wairiki, has been rc-prcsented to the cjub by Mr. £. R. Speight;- Mr. T. 'McKay, who is not offering nis services again as commodore, and Mr. G. E. Laycock, who is retiring from the position of ..honorary secretary after eight years' service, arc deserving of the best thanks of members. ' The balance-sheet showed that the club's finances were in a sound'position. Receipts totalled £1116 0/9, leaving a credit balance on the year's work of £143 19/.', Only £442 in debentures .--remained to be paid off the clubhouse, which was valued at £2025. ■ The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said the position reflected credit on all concerned. Messrs. T. McKay, T. Boswell, A. Braund, E. B. Webster, E. Kdgcumbe, T. McKuight, G. Miller, S. Carter, J. Skelton. C. Cooic, A. Bone and T. Paton ; starter, Mr. G. Miller; timekeepers, Messrs. G. B. The subscription and entry fees were fixed as last year. Eight new members were elected. Life members' certificates were presented by Mr. McKay to Messrs. S. H. Leyland, A. Braund. G. S. Miller iinrl O. Grimmer, the recipients acknowledging the honour. Votes of thanks were accorded the ladies' committee, the retiring commodore, Mr. Tom McKay. Mr. G. E. Laycock, who has held the position of honorary secretary for eight years, and Mr. T. Carter for his services at the weekly socials. Notice-of motion was given to jtfosdames E. B. Webster, G. Miller, P. W. Jcffers and Miss Ratcliffe as honorary life members. Mr. McKay presented the newly-elected flag officers with their respective flags. A vole of thanks to the Press concluded the ■business.
