MOTOR SERVICE PROPOSAL.

Mr. 'Ryan's Observations apparently are-preparing the motoring interests for big developments'over the transport question; While Press - representatives werei hot admitted: to the meeting of the White Star organisation, it is understood that the directors of the company have a scheme before them which is calculated to eliminate competition between rail and motoi* which is detrimental to both interests, and that this will be submitted to'.tlie Government in the near future. .

The proposal appears to be for ,the Government to subsidise that would be run at certain of the .day, whereas it is now running unprofitable : services, and that, the Department be given a free run with recognised services.

The' report that has been formulated will I probably .be submitted to other mot wing concerns for approval. It aims to bring motor services under Government, supervision and also tb have a scale of affairs fixed by tlie latter.

"If tlic scheme is .adopted it will produce very necessary, co-ordination of rail and road transport," said an official of the White Star. "While preserving, the utmost secrecy about the details of the proposals, we hope that after careful consideration the proposals will be adopted, for they are workable: and sound." - , -
