; MR. WILLIAM MARKWICK. ■ The., death -" occurred at Auckland recently of Mr. Williaim James Markiwiclc'at the age of- 78 years.' Mr. Mark-j fwick • came 'to New Zealand with, his wife" at the age of 23 in the sailing ship British Empire. ' He followed his occupation as a painter and decorator in ;A\ickJan'd fcir, some years and also spent some time on, the Thames and Waite'kauri goldfields..
