RACE DETERIORATES. Sterilisation Only Way Out Say Eugenic Reformers. ALARMING FIGURES. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright; (Received 11.80 a.m.) LONDON,'September 14. Addressing the International Eugisnic" Conference in Dorset, Sir Arthur Keith said that . racial deterioration had set in. He was supported by Colonel G. Bond, who bases his opinion on the medical examination o£ 2,500,000 civilians of military age in 1918, of whom only one-third were really flt. The loss of work from sickness among jisui-ed men in England and Wales accounted for 26,500,000 weeks' unemployment in a single year. Finally the inspection of 6,000,000 school children showed that 1,000,000 were so physically unfit or defective that tlicy were unable to derive reasonable benefit from education. Sterilisation, duly safeguarded and wisely applied, was the only way out of the trouble.
Sir Arthur. Keith said his remedy was eugenic reform.
