"He's not quite right." said Chief Detective Hammond in the Police Court to-day when prosecuting Eric William Lanham (10), who was charged with stealing a gramophone valued at £10 10/, the property of K. S. Adams. Mr. Hammond explained that accused had bought the machine on the hirepurchase system by paying a small deposit. He then went and sold the gramophone again. Lanham kept saying, "The gramophone has been returned."

Mr. Hammond asked for a remand as another charge was pending. "He was up four .times last month," said Mr. Hammond.

"TVree times," interjected accused. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., remanded Lan ham till August 12.
