BACK TO HER PARENTS.

THEFT BY MARRIED WOMAN.

RECENT CASE AT HAMILTON.

TWO YEARS' PROBATION,

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day.

When she came up for sentence before Mr. Wyvern Wilson to-day for theft from the house of Mr. F. W. Mead, Claudelands, of £8 15/, the property of the South Auckland Football Association, Pearl Aubrey Bound had nothing to say. It will be remembered that accused, who is 21 years of age and married, with two young children, was employed at Mr. Mead's house as a domestic. She apparently knew that in a certain desk Mr. Mead had a sum of money. Sho deliberately planned to make it appear that someone had gained entry through the window, and stole it She ruffled the soil beneath the window and bored a hole through the framework near the catch, but oniitted to disturb the dust on the window sill. This Detective White was quick to observe. When taxed, Mrs. Bound admitted the theft.

The probation officer's. report stated that'the accused was married quite young and deserted by her husband, against whom an order existed for maintenance in respect of the children, but none in respect of herself. She had one previous conviction for theft. Her parents' report stated that they were prepared to look after her, but had difficulty in keeping her at home.

The magistrate told accused he would give her an opportunity of going back to her parents on probation for two years, on condition that she- would reside for twelve months with her parents. His Worship warned accused that if she failed to observe the conditions she would probably be placed in the women's prison.
