LONDON, July 23. ( At the wool sales 7622 bales were offered, including 1595 New Zealand. About 3885 were sold. 2\ew Zealand greasy halfbred, Mount Paul, 12d to 11 Ad, crossbred, Ngaio, 10% d to 9%d. The total number of bales catalogued was 104,469. Of these there were sold to Home buyers 31,000, to the Continent 50 500, to the "United States 1000. Held over were 71,500, of which 50,000 were not of Th?' quantity of Australian sold[ was 37,000 bales and of New Zealand 29,000 3)3lgs The tone of the market improved as the -sales progressed and strong, confident bidding marked the latter half, and withdrawals were less than was expected. Merino greasy combings were strongly competed for throughout. Finest closed, slightly above May closing rates, bood average improved throughout and closed at a parity with May prices. Faulty carbonising ports were unchanged. Prom the opening erosstaeds met a strong demand and closed slightly above the opening.. Fine, medium grades were about par and scoureds unchanged, biipes, •which opened at a severe decline, generally improved their position and .at the close were about 5 per cent below May. In lambs best parcels were unchanged, inferior short carbonising sorts five to seven and a half below May prices. New Zealand -greasy croeebreds ranged from 9d to 12% d, finest halfbred lambs, 14d.
