FLUCTUATIONS !N SHARES.
BUSINESS VERY QUIET
After a temporary spurt business on the local Stock Exchange has quietened down perceptibly, and the last 24 hours has seen very few sales completed. Values are. fairly steady, but there is no life in the market. The general weakness in banks has apparently now reached Australasias, and these were offered this morning £12 5/. A buver came forward for New Zealand Insurances, offering £2 4/6,.and Colonial Sugars were asked for at £3o- . "New Zealand Breweries are still m request, with buyers at £2 9/9. In Government stocks, 5Vs s (1936) are still available at £99 7/6 i and for a parcel of ite's inscribed the holder asks £99 Id/.
The Noon Call
There was no improvement in the market tone at the noon call, the only sale completed being of Commercial Banks and showing a slight reduction. Coals and shipping were in fair demand at late rates, and buyers for Thames Theatre moved their limits up to 12/6. , , Wilsons Cement, on the other hand, slipped back further, -with sellers at £2.
