MEETING AUCKLAND NEEDS.

IMPORTANT NEGOTIATIONS

Negotiations have reached an advanced stage in an important proposal designed to ensure adequate coal supplies for the Auckland Electric Power Board. It is understood that the Government proposes to lease the McDonald State coal mine at Glen Afton to Glen Afton Collieries, Ltd., for a long term, on condition that tho company undertakes to meet the coal requirements of the Power Board. The McDonald mine was purchased by the State in 1919, but it has been idle sineo 1920.
