ASSOCIATED BOARD EXAMS.
LARGE NUMBER OF ENTRIES.
There were nearly 100 more entries tliis year than last in the practical examinations of the Associated Board of the Eoyal Academy of Music, • and the Royal College of. Music, 'which commenced yesterday morning in the Pitt Street Methodist Church. Auckland district entries totalled 404, as compared with 308 last year. There were 1)9 entries in the primary section, and 84 in the elementary. Entries in the higher and lower groups totalled 113, the intermediate and advanced 59, and in the final section 7. Twenty-eight entries were receivpd for,the licentiate examinations, and 14 for the rudimentary test. Dr. R. 0. Beaclicroft, M.A., who is conducting the examinations, received his musical education as an exhibitioner at the Royal College of Music, and as an organ scholar at Worcester College, Oxford, where ho graduated as Doctor of Music. He was for many years director of music at Clifton College, and was connected with the 'Bristol University. He has had wide experience as con-, ductof, performer, lecturer and adjudicator. He is now mainly engaged in examination work.
