Mr. R. A. Anderson, C.M.G., of Messrs. J. G. Ward, Ltd., Invercargill, left by the Aorangi yesterday on a health trip to Queensland. Mr. W. Higgins, of Wellington, rarehorse owner, was a passenger by the Aorangi yesterday. Captain P. J. Foster, marine superintendent of the Union Steam Ship Company, returned to Wellington last evening. Mr. R. L. Pierropont, of New York, who is on a world tour, arrived in Auckland by the Maunganui this morning and will spend a month in sight-seeing in New Zealand. He is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. J. G. Rickerby, district traffic manager of railways in Auckland, returned yesterday from the conference of railway officers in Wellington.

Mr. J. A. Campbell. Director of Horticulture m the Department of Agriculture, Wellington, was a passenger to Auckland by the Limited this morning.

Mr. G. -T. Stitt, managing director of the Wallsend Colliery Company at Bmnner. West ■ Coast, returned from a business trip to Sydney by the Maunganui this morning.

The Rt. Hon. J. G-. Coates, Leader of the Opposition, will arrive in Auckland from Dargaville to-morrow morning. He will leave for Wellington on Thursday or Friday. Mr. J. Armstead. honorary solicitor for the Auckland S.P.C.A., will leave for Wellington this evening to attend the annual meeting of the New Zealand Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The conference will conclude at the end of the week.

Mr. R. Tracy IngMs, eon of Dr. R. Tracv Inglis, of Auckland, returned bv the Maunganui this morning from Sydney, where he has been undergoing a course of medical treatment.

Mr. G. A. Whitehouse, manager of the Bank of New South Wales at Timaru, formerly of Auckland, has been appointed to the staff of the chief inspector at the head office of the back in Sydney. Sir George Fowlds, president of the Auckland University College Council, left last evening for Palmerston- North to be present at the inspection of the Massey College by the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe.

Mr. A. L. Maw, chief engineer of the Vacuum Oil Company in Australia, accompanied by Mr. H. B. Lenau, engineer for the New"York office, was a. passenger from Sydney by the Maungatmi this morning, and is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. Maw will proceed to America by the Makura, and Mr. Lenau wiH relieve him of his duties in Australia and New Zealand during his absence.
