BOARDER'S EMPLOYMENT. "NO POSSIBILITY OF PAYING.' , In order to secure board. Douglas James Sampson, a labourer (23), posed as a railway employee, but hia deception was discovered. Sampson pleaded guilty in the Police Court this morning to a charge of incurring a debt of 15/ with Mrs. McKennon. thereby obtaining credit by fraud. Sub-Inspector Shanahan explained to the Court that Sampson went to Mrs. McKennon's residence in Park Road on Thursday last, and, stating that he was working at the railway station, obtained board " there. Mrs. McKenn-on became suspicious and. rang up the .railway authorities and she discovered that in that quarter nothing was known about accused. When Sampson was challenged about the matter, he offered Mrs. McKennon a cheque, but he had no cheque to give her. "The man is out of work, and has no possibility of paying," added the subinspector. Sampson, he said, had* a list and had been convicted for breaking entering and theft and forgery. Sampson was convicted and fined £5, in default seven days 5 imprisonment.
