CIVIC LEAGUE.
The Ch'i« League held their monthly, meeting at the Y.W.C.A. last evening, with Mrs. Kenneth Gordon, president,'in the chair. A discussion took place on unemployment and its solution by further land settlement. A resolution was. carried that the Government be asked to grant greater facilities for approved persons out of work or families to settle on suitable land. A letter was received from a city ratepayer complaining of the nuisance of disused tram tickets being thrown in her front garden. The writer pointed out that in Glasgow receptacles were placed at each end of the tram for cancelled tickets, and she suggested tlit this scheme should be introduced in Auckland.
