RACING APPEAL.
OWAIEAKA AND SEA COB.
DISTRICT COMMITTEE'S ACTION
UPHELD,
An appeal against the decision of the Auckland district committee in reversing the placings in the Waipa Handicap, run at Whangarci on April 4, was lodged with the New Zealand Racing Conference by Messrs. S. G. Lindsay and W. Allen, jun., owners of Owairaka, and the appeal was heard by the Racing Conference judees, Messrs. 0. S. Watkins, W. McA. Duncan and J. H. Perrett, in Auckland this morning. The facts are that Owairaka finished first and Sea Cob, owned by Mr. W. Montgomery, second. An inquiry was held by the judicial committee of the Whangarei Racing Club after the race into alleged interference by K. Gill, rider of Owairaka, with R. S. Bagby, rider of Sea Cob, but it was decided to take no action. Mr. Montgomery appealed, and the district committee reversed the placings. , The judges this morning unanimouslyupheld the decision of the district committee, which means that Sea Cob gets first money and Owairaka second money.
