STEEPLECHASE DAY.

GOOD FIELDS ENGAGED.

TO-MORROW'S PROGRAMME.

THE CARD REVIEWED,

The Great Northern meeting will be continued at Ellerslie to-morrow* and at the time of writing the prospects as far as fine weather is concerned do not look too. promising. Good fields are engaged, and there should again be some interesting racing.

The Hunt Club Cup. Twelve have been paid up for in the Hunt Club Cup Steeplechase. Mashoor, w ho ran second in the Hunt Club Hurdles vesterday, is top weight, and he should again go well, for ho has won over Ellerslie country. Pennyplain has had only, one race, and that was when he accounted for the Hunt Club Hurdles yesterday. Lucess was second to Master Lu in the Green Lane Steeplechase, and is sure to have support. Nukutere, who is bracketed with Pennyplain, has shown winning form over fences at Ellerslie, while St. Warrigal and Marita finished third and fourth respectively in the Green Lane Steeplechase. The public will probably give most support to

PENNYPLAIN-NUKUTERE Bracket LUCESS MASHOOR. Ranfurly Handicap. Goldlike failed in the first division of the Jervois Handicap at Ellerslie yesterday, but the distance of the Ranfurly Handicap, seven furlongs, may be more in his favour. Sir Mond and Valreina both ran good races in their respective divisions of the same event, being fourth and third respectively. On Top has won hack races this season, while Royal Visitor won over six furlongs at Taumarunui, and was close up yesterday in the second division of the Jervois Handicap. Principal Was third in the first division of the same race, •while Valcuir, Catoma, Roman Pearl and Derry Belle may be the best of the others. The favourite division may be: SIR MOND ROYAL VISITOR VALREINA. Rerauera Hurdles. Mister Gamp is top weight of the seven paid up for in the Remuera Hurdles. He ran a good race till he fell two fences from home in the Great Northern Hurdles yesterday, and he promises to go well to-morrow. Prince Lu annexed the May Hurdles at Wanganui recently, and he should give a good account of himself to-morrow. The going will suit him, judging hy his effort at Wanganui. Kauri Park Avon the Hobsonville Hurdles, two miles, at Avondale, and he should also go well, and Taumai won so easily yesterday that he is sure to have support. The chief selections when the machine closes may be: PRINCE LU , • TAUMAI MISTER GAMP. Great Northern Steeplechase.

Kawini is at the lead of those engaged in the Great Northern Steeplechase, hut he has little to his credit recently. The same remarks apply to llangani, while Omeo has been sore, and is a doubtful starter. Roman Abbey finished second in this event last season, and he promises to again go veil to-morrow. Ponjola won the Egmqrit Steeplechase and the Wanganui tSteeplechaso in his last two starts, and will be one of the favourites. Since coining to Ellerslie he has jumped and worked well. Matu was second to Ponjola at Hawera and Wanganui, and is a much improved horse just now. He will have plenty of friends. Of those lower down Aurora Borealis 8 and 'Odin appeal most. The principal fancies may he:

PONJOLA MATU \ ROMAN ABBEY The King George Handicap. Havering is at the head of those K ' accepted for in the King George Handicap. He finished a good fourth in the Members' Handicap yesterday, and with an extra furlong to go to-morrow should be much harder to dispose of. Gold Money won the Members' Handi- « ' cap very easily, and should see out the extra furlong all right. Eager Rose should also go well. Luck Rose finished a good fourth in the Cornwall Handicap yesterday, being well in the picture a furlong from home. Bold Front, Flying . Prince and Tinokoa may carry most . money of the others engaged. Those to carry most money may ber GOLD MONEY HAVERING LUCY ROSE. Panmure Hurdles. King's Jest has a solid impost to carry in the Panmure Hurdles, but if started will have a good following. Qnincoma disappointed yesterday, while Pendavies has not raced for some time. Kairuri was second in the Penrose Hurdles yesterday, and should be improved. Harbour View was third in that stent, 'while Luminary would only need to jump right to. have a good show. Carlaria has been schooling well at Ellerslie, and may be the best of the others. Most support may go to KING'S JEST KAIRURI LUMINARY.
