SYDNEY, this day.
.Trapped in the centre of a cyclone tho steamer Cardross, which arrived at Sydney last night, was pounded by mountainous seas, and was hove to for sixteen hours off Jervis Bay.
Shipping generally suffered severe battering. The motor ship Malabar, from Melbourne, had the deck railings carried away.
The Canberra, also from Melbourne, was damaged. Seats were swept overboard, portholes smashed, and cabms flooded.
The coaster Cobaki was blown from her moorings in the harbour during the night and with the hulk Pendle Hill, drifted ashore at Woolwich.
Flood warnings have been issued in many parts of the State. Between Albion Park and Kiama, on the south coast, are liugo inland seas.
