ONEHUNGA ORPHANS' CLUB.
> The tenth session of the Onehunga Orphans' Club was opened on Saturday evening, when Bro. R. G. Speight was installed as president by Bro. E. V. Sutherland, past president. There was a large gathering of members and visiting brethren, including representatives from the following associated clubs:—Pukekohe, Devonport, Papakura, Tamaki, Takapuna, ZSTorthcote, Birkenhead, and Otahuhu. The president, in his inaugural address, deplored the fact that the existing economic depression was reacting on the club's membership, and hoped that those who had been compelled to fall out of the ranks would, by the 'help of their more fortuuate brethren, soon be restored to prosperity and membership. He announced the continued convalescence of the immediate past-president, Bro. Robt. Buchanan, who would in all probability preside at the club's next meeting on June 7. Bro. H. S. W. King, of the Devonport Club, responded on behalf of the visitors. An enjoyable and varied programme of music, soug and story was given by the club's orchestra, under Bro. J. Lighton, Bros. A. McSkinrming, F. Sutherland, C. Suisted, G. Wheeler, L. Kernot, J. B. Finlayson, E. Pooley and G. G. McLennan. Bro., L. Elliott played the accompaniments.
