BOUNDARIES FIXED.
TOWN PLANNING BOARD. COMMITTEE AT WHANGAREI. "NORTH OF RODNEY. COtjNTY." (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. The Regional Boundaries Committee of the Town Planning Board held a successful inquiry at Whangarei yesterday, when the members met in conference delegates from northern local bodies. After the proposal had been thoroughly explained, the following resolution was unanimously carried: — "That this meeting of representatives of local bodies and other interests in the North Auckland .area, having heard the explanation.by Mr. Mawson, Director of Town Planning, of the principles of
regional' planning, hereby records its conviction of the benefits to be derived from such a scheme and urges upon all local bodies within the area the desirability of proceeding with the regional planning scheme, as provided for under tlie Town Planning Amendment Act, 1929." Pull discussion ensued as to the southern boundary of the region, the question being whether the interests of Rodney County lay with Auckland or North Auckland. Finally it was decided to recommend the Town Planning Board that the area to be regarded as the North Auckland region should include all that land to the north of the present Rodney County. Tlfe conference also suggested that on receipt of the Town Planning Board's provisional decision on the 'question of boundaries, the .Mayors of Whangarei and Dargavillc convene a further meeting of local body representatives concerned to discuss the matter and take steps to set up regional committees. Members of the touring, committee left for Auckland by the afternoon train.
