DEER PROBLEM.
CONFERENCE IN THE SOUTH. STATEMENT BY MINISTER. (By Telegraph.—Own CovrosponuQut.) WELLINGTON, tin's day. Arrangements have now been completed for the holding in Christchurch on May 7 of the conference called by the Minister of Internal Affairs (the TTon. P. A. do la Pcrrello) to discuss the deer problem. iSpcnkijifj to a reporter, tlie Minister slated that a pood deal had been heard lately of the question of voting on the different proposals to be discuesccl at the conference. "I wish to Sf/y," said Mr. de la Perrolle, "that the conference is beinp called.for the .purpose of having a full 'discussion on the deer problem, the main idea being to obtain the views of tho various interested parties as to tlie best way of meeting: the situation. There-is, however, no intention of putting, any proposal to a vote. I am most anxious to have the views of all concerned on the question, and, having heard them. I will make recommendations to the Government on tho future policy to be adopted."
